About Us

1st Ashtead Scout Group delivers an exciting programme to more than 250 young people aged between 6 and 18 years. Our programme balances adventure with learning, and our young people develop practical skills, self confidence and leadership ability. This translates into responsible, capable and employable young citizens.

Scouting adventures are unforgettable. Our youngest beaver scouts will always remember their first night under canvas, their first campfire and their first ascent of our climbing wall. Cub scouts will remember the challenge of navigating on a hike, capsizing a kayak and lighting their first fire. Scouts will remember multi-day expeditions, sleeping under the stars and climbing their first genuine mountain. Explorer scouts experience international camping, extreme sports, and leadership training.

1st Ashtead is run by an expert and committed team of adult volunteers comprising leaders who work directly with young people, and a management team who run the group’s affairs. Apart from the satisfaction of making a difference, our volunteers benefit from reduced subscription fees and jumped waiting lists for their own children, as well as structured training.

We are a well-equipped, well-organised and highly active scout group and have been offering fun and adventure to young people in Ashtead since 1920. We hope you enjoy exploring our website and look forward to hearing from you.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
